Each donation we receive has a direct impact on Black Hills Workshop, allowing us to provide quality services to each person we have the privilege to serve. As a nonprofit organization, Black Hills Workshop Foundation relies on the generous support of donors to sustain the highly individualized care plan that has become our trademark! Our outstanding team of professionals and the people with disabilities they serve welcome your financial support. We invite you to become a part of our future.

Cash

A gift of cash in the form of cash, checks, or credit card, is the simplest and most immediate way people contribute to Black Hills Workshop Foundation. Cash gifts may also be pledged over a number of years. Our levels of membership are:

Memorial/Tribute Gifts

What better way to honor a loved one and support the Black Hills Workshop Foundation than through a gift in that person's name? A commenorative gift can be made to any program or campaign of the Foundation "in memory of" or "in honor of" any individual. Your gift is a caring expression for someone who has value to you. Notification is sent to the honoree or to the family, in the case of a memorial gift. The amount of your gift will not be mentioned.

Matching Gifts

Many employers have matching gift programs through which your generosity to Black Hills Workshop Foundation can be multiplied. Please check with your human resources office to see if your company offers matching gifts to nonprofit agencies.

Where Funds Go

Donations to the Black Hills Workshop Foundation of any size are always beneficial. Donors may designate their gift for a particular fund or purpose or to the area of greatest need. 100% of the donated gifts benefit the area for which they were designated, and donations are tax-deductible.

Planned Giving

Choosing to make a donation through your estate shows your commitment to sharing your life rewards and making a difference in the lives of others. The Ep Howe Family of Friends Legacy Society is a distinquished group of individuals who have included Black Hills Workshop Foundation in their estate plan. You can join by including the Foundation in your financial plans. Strategic charitable investments can provide significant tax benefits now and in the future. Our agency has a list of estate planning professionals who have extensive experience. Feel free to contact us to obtain this list.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Donors wanting to transfer wealth to another generation can establish a lead trust. In this instance, Black Hills Workshop Foundation could enjoy a stream of income to help meet immediate needs and, after a period of time, the donor's heirs receive the assets. This method of giving also helps to reduce taxes on the donor's estate.

Charitable Remainder Trust

A donor creates a trust funding it with cash or appreciated property. Income from the trust is paid to beneficiary(s) designated by the donor. Those identified receive income for life or for a specified number of years, and at the end of the trust term the assets of the trust pass to the Foundation.

Special Needs Trust for Adults with Disabilities

Estate planning for family members who have a close relative with disabilities can be complex, due to the structure of government benefit programs. There are several existing tools such as the special needs trust that can be used to provide a supplement for a person with disabilities and provide funds for the Black Hills Workshop Foundation. Your loved ones, charities and the government are the three possible beneficiaries of the assets that you have worked so hard to accumulate. If you die without a will, the laws of your state will determine how your assets will be divided. Black Hills Workshop Foundation provides a free information sharing seminar annually discussing Special Needs Trusts. Refer to the events area of this web site for details.

Bequests

Anyone with assets can make a bequest. If you have included Black Hills Workshop Foundation in your will, please let us know so that we may properly acknowledge you. However, if you wish, your information will be kep in strict confidence.

Planned Giving Seminars
